"I Used to Be a Student Once" is a photo essay about studying for a Master's in Fashion Photography at the London College of Fashion in the 2021-22 academic year. It documents the experience of being a student. At the time, the images were not considered part of a project; instead, they stemmed from a reflective and intuitive desire to capture moments that would later become cherished memories. After completing the course, Aleks created a series from this footage, showing the diverse cohort of students studying, participating in workshops and photoshoots, working on projects, socializing, travelling, and having fun.
